Do you have children? Is the cost of childcare too costly to juggle especially as a student? Student Alliance in conjunction with the Student Childcare subcommittee has come up with a pilot program to partially subsidized the cost of childcare for current students attending CIIS. Child Care @ CIIS Mainfesto

Students of CIIS support our peers in their responsibility as caregivers to minors, therefore we allocate $10,00 in funds (a year) from the student alliance budget to assist them in caregiving.

We acknowledge the financial, psychological and physical difficulties of raising children in the Bay Area, an area that overall seems to place little value on the wellbeing of families, public education, healthcare and housing.

We encourage those individuals, who may not otherwise seek higher education because of race, class, gender, disability, ethnicity or due to financial constraints or obligations to their family, by funding childcare during the times they need to attend class, study, intern, and participate in the political life of CIIS.

We support scholars, which likewise value caregiving as a professional vocation and therefore encourage them as employees to pay an equitable and just fee for services, which amounts to $15 or more per hour, and this rate should increase with the number of children who are given care.

Student Alliance Childcare Process:
(Please note that the Fall 2010 deadline has passed. We will let you know when we reopen the application process for Spring 2010)

1. Read through all the SA guidelines
2. Fill out both the Childcare Funding Proposal Form.
3. If your child is in a childcare facility, please fill out the Childcare Enrollment Verification Form .
4. If your child is seen by a babysitter or other childcare provider on a one on one basis, please have that person fill out the Childcare Enrollment Form substituting the name of the facility for the name of the individual provider.
5. We are requesting to see receipts in order to continue to process your applications. If you have not been keeping track of receipts, feel free to use one of the two attached Receipts Forms (1) (2) . If you have receipts with amounts listed of how much was paid for childcare, please send those and not the attached receipt forms.
6. When done, turn it in to the Student Alliance drop box outside of room 401, the SA mailbox or email it to ciis.childcare 'at' gmail.com . If you are emailing it, please write in the subject line: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REQUESTED.
7. Once SA has gotten back to you regarding their decision, please turn in a Funding Receipts Forms .
8. Your check should arrive within 7 to 10 business days.
9. Email studentalliance 'at' ciis.edu with questions related to funds granted and email ciis.childcare 'at' gmail.com with questions as to the general process.

Your Application Should Include

• CIIS Childcare Funding Proposal Form.
• Childcare Enrollment Verification Form .
• Receipts of the amount paid for which you are seeking reimbursement (1) (2) . Please note that you are allowed to use your own receipt form.
• Funding Receipts Forms (when requested by the SA coordinator).
